Программа:
Февраль
9 февраля. 10:00 - 11:30
Maureen McGarvey - How adults learn
We will examine our own views on language learning and compare these with some principles about additional language learning. We will consider principles related to lesson design and their application in our classrooms.
16 февраля. 10:00 - 11:30
Julie Stolyarchuk - Embodied tools for teacher wellbeing
Our emotions affect the way we move and breathe. Interestingly, the way we move and breathe can affect our emotions. That is why this session is dedicated to embodied self-knowledge and stress-management techniques. By the end of the session you will hopefully have a clearer picture of where your strengths as a teacher lie and become more intentional about how you approach stressful situations in life and in the classroom.
23 февраля. 10:00 - 11:30
Maureen McGarvey - Lexis and texts
We will discuss different ways of dealing with lexis in receptive skills lessons, including whether to pre- teach lexis. We will look at how we can help learners understand, remember and use lexis.
1 марта. 10:00 - 11:30
Julie Stolyarchuk - Building rapport (T-S)
To have great classroom rapport, we have to understand ourselves as teachers and to understand our learners. We will unravel what ‘self-concept’ is and take a closer look at the factors that determine how our learners see themselves in the classroom – and how teachers can (often unwittingly) impact this.

8 марта. 10:00 - 11:30
Maureen McGarvey - Developing receptive skills
In this session we will consider the difference between testing and developing receptive skills. We will consider different approaches to developing receptive skills and share our own classroom experiences.
15 марта. 10:00 - 11:30
Julie Stolyarchuk - Building classroom rapport (S-S)
We are all part of a variety of communities – our family, our school, our city… the list goes on. The classroom is also a community – a community of practice. But a classroom doesn’t immediately become a cohesive unit. This session explores how to turn a collection of individuals into a real team.
22 марта. 10:00 - 11:30
Maureen McGarvey - Developing speaking skills
We will look at different types of speaking activities and consider how far these develop students’ speaking skills. We will explore the issue of error correction and discuss and share effective strategies for this.
29 марта. 10:00 - 11:30
Julie Stolyarchuk - Feedback that empowers
Should all errors be corrected? When? What should I focus on when giving language feedback so that it leads to actual uptake? This practical session is dedicated to building a repertoire of error correction techniques that will help give learners feedback that is fair and encouraging.

Tests are a good way of discovering how much a student has learned in a lesson or a series of lessons. However, that is not the only way tests can be used. In this session, we will look at different types of formative and summative assessment that will help your students deepen their learning.
19 апреля. 10:00 - 11:30
