We are tired of language classes that don't work.
We are tired of lessons that teach words that no one uses. We are tired of courses that don't let us study when and how we want. We are tired of computer programs and algorithms that try and fail to replicate the experience of learning from another human being.
We are a team of people from all over the world who have experienced the joys of language learning first-hand, and in doing such have also experienced its many challenges. We have drawn on these experiences in building OpenLanguage to help other busy adults like ourselves avoid these pitfalls and achieve success in learning new languages, all while having a bit of fun.
OpenLanguage lessons are centered around dialogues set in real life situations.
New words, phrases and grammar patterns are taught in the form of realistic social exchange instead of dry lists or games. Each language is taught as it is used in the real world, and in doing so illuminates the cultures and social worlds of the people who speak it.
Every OpenLanguage audio lesson is hosted by real teacher presenters who connect the language back to its speakers. One native speaker and one English speaker who has learned the language fluently, they walk students through each dialogue, explaining key words and patterns and teaching how to use them in real life. They share their personal experiences and perspectives, their successes and failures in learning and using the language to bring the human insight needed for successful language learning.
Each lesson page includes dialogue transcripts, vocabulary lists, practice sentences, and exercises to complete the learning experience. And if users have any questions, the lesson hosts will answer on the comments section.
In addition to web support, OpenLanguage offers full-featured iOS and Android apps to allow students to study wherever and whenever they want. And with the option to study by level-based courses or individual lessons of choice, each student can truly make their studies their own.
